About Us

Better Screening

You’ll be Evaluated and Counseled

Determining if you are a candidate for LASIK or cataract surgery is the most important element in ensuring you'll have the best outcome. Our Lexington and Campbellsville offices allow you to be evaluated by one of the most accomplished LASIK surgeons in Lexington. With over 35,000 successful LASIK laser surgeries, Dr. Thomas G. Abell is among the top LASIK and cataract surgeons in Kentucky and the surrounding region.

Your LASIK Exam Will be Thorough

No corners are cut.The LASIK consultation exam takes about an hour and a half. During the consultation, Dr. Abell’s staff will perform Allegretto Wave wavefront mapping, autorefraction, corneal topography, pachmetry, pupillometry, tear testing, and other diagnostics. These tests tell us about your prescription, the shape and health of your cornea, the thickness of your cornea, the size of your pupils, and aberrations present in your visual system. All of these factors are essential in determining if LASIK or another procedure is right for you. No other Lexington or even Kentucky facility offers this kind of depth of testing during the initial consultation.

Better Results

We Will Perform Your LASIK Surgery on the Allegretto Wave Laser

The Allegretto Wave Laser offers the newest generation in LASIK laser technology combined with FDA approved eye tracker small spot shaping for optimal results. Why would you choose LASIK on anything but the latest and best technology? To see specific data on these LASIK laser systems visit www.fda.gov. The European designed Allegretto Wave excimer laser system with PerfectPulse Technology was the first new platform to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in five years. It is also the only laser system that has received concurrent approvals for nearsightedness and farsightedness with astigmatism and clearance for the widest treatment range ever initially granted to a new laser by the federal government.

Better Experience

Since 1985, the Eye Institute and AbellEyes Refractive Solutions have been dedicated to providing the Lexington and Kentucky Area with the best technology options for vision correction. From active involvement as clinical investigators and clinic sites for the FDA American LASIK studies, Dr. Abell and his team of professionals continue to set precedents in the world of eye care.

Both our Lexington and Campbellsville facilities were built specifically for permanent vision correction and that is what we have focused on since Dr. Thomas G.
